A contract has been signed for full service maintenance of unique project 22160 patrol ship "VASILIY BYKOV"

A contract was concluded for the full service maintenance of unique patrol ships of the project 22160.

Project 22160 are designed to draw the duty for border patrol service for the protection of sea waters, patrolling the 200-mile exclusive economic zone in the open and closed seas, prevent smuggling and piracy, search for and assist victims of marine accidents, environmental monitoring in peacetime, escorting ships and vessels at sea crossings, as well as naval bases and water areas with the aim of warning about the attack of various enemy forces and means at a time of war, as well as operations in the far sea and ocean zones.
The lead project 22160 patrol craft "VASILIY BYKOV" (serial number 161) has been built for the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and is currently undergoing state tests on the Black Sea.

"VASILIY BYKOV" took part in the parade of the celebration of the Navy Day in the hero-city of Novorossiysk.

"ROSFLOTSERVICE" Ship Supply Department was engaged in the supply of necessary equipment for celebrating and illuminating the ship.

“This is a unique highly maneuverable and very “full-throated” ship,” Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said at the ceremony of cutting the first steel.

Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov clarified that project 22160 was coined and proposed by designers for the Navy for anti-terrorist operations and the fight against piracy, which is very common, especially in the countries of the Middle East.

“In order not to accompany civilian ships and not to spend on it the resources of sea-going ships, this project was invented, which fully ensures the protection of the seas. In the armed forces, we ordered six such ships”, he said.
